28th OCT - Great Barrier Reef Marathon 2018
The Run for the Great Barrier Reef Fund has been established as a partnership between the Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival and James Cook University.
The Port Douglas' based Marathon Festival is hosted in the spectacular surroundings of our contemporary seaside town which comes alive as an Athletes Village.
Whether you are a fitness junkie or in it for fun with some friends, there is a course appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. The best part of the whole experience? You get to recover in tropical paradise with two World Heritage listed sites in the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest right on our door step. It doesn't get much better than that!
Previously names 'the worlds best adventure course' by Olympic marathon champions, the Port Douglas course incorporate beach, road and trail running for all distances. This allows the competitor to see this spectacular part of the world first hand and truly appreciate the beauty. All races start on the stunning sun-soaked Four Mile Beach.
The Great Barrier Reef must be preserved for generations to come, it is a living National and world treasure that must be saved now. The Run for the Great Barrier Reef Fund has been established as a partnership between the Great Barrier Reef Marathon Festival and James Cook University. From each registration in the Steve Moneghetti Marathon and the Sheraton Mirage Grand Resort Half Marathon, $20 is donated directly to the fund.
To date we have raised over $80,000! So do your part and enter the greatest marathon in Australia. Find out more about fundraising and what you can do.
